It is one of the most popular browser extensions that serves as a way of storing your Ethereum. It is free and secure, allowing web applications to read and interact with Ethereum’s blockchain.
Step 1 – Install MetaMask on your browser
To create a new wallet, you need to install the extension first. Most browsers have MetaMask on their stores, so it is quite easy to see it, such as Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Edge.

In this tutorial here, is the MetaMask in Google Chrome as an example. But these steps are the same steps apply to different browsers too. If, for some reason, the links above don’t work for you, just search “MetaMask Extension” on your search engine, and Voilà.
Click “Get Chrome Extension” on Install MetaMask as a Google Chrome extension.
Click “Add to Chrome”.
Click “Add Extension”.

Step 2 – Create an account
Click on the extension icon in the upper right corner to open MetaMask.
To install, click “Try it now”.
Click “Continue”.
You will be prompted to create a new password. Click “Create”.
Proceed by clicking “Next” and accept the Terms of Use.
Click “Reveal Secret Words”. And you will see a 12 words Secret Backup Phrase. This is key element to restore your account or password. Hence, it wont be a secure idea to store it digitally. Highly recommend to write it down, and keep it safe.
Verify your Secret Backup Phrase by selecting the previously generated Secret Backup Phrase in order. Click “Confirm”.
And that’s it how you nailed your MetaMask account effortlessly. A new Ethereum wallet address has just been created and ready to start. Let’s take a look at the next step on depositing funds.
Step 3 – Depositing funds
Click on “Buy”.
Click on “View Account”.
You can now see your public wallet address and share it with other people. There are some methods to buy coins offered by MetaMask, but you can do it differently as well, you just need your address.
The MetaMask extension will always be available in your browser’s toolbar, one click away to continue the journey into the Crypto world. It’s simple and easy to use. Sending coins is also very intuitive; there’s a big send button, and the rest are easily understandable.
How to backup and restore your wallet using the Secret Recovery Phrase?
Suppose you have changed browser or laptop. Here is how to re-connect your MetaMask again. First, you have to find your Secret Backup Phrase, which you should have stored, to begin with.
Click on the extension icon "" in the upper right corner to open MetaMask.
Click on the account icon.
Click Settings.
Find “Security & Privacy” and click it.
Click “Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase”, which you find the same as your “Secret Backup Phrase”.
Enter your password.
Now save the Secret Recovery Phrase/Secret Backup Phrase somewhere, preferably not digitally. The backup is done now all you have to do is to learn the restoring process.
Open MetaMask and click on the account icon.
Click “Import Account” using the Secret Recovery Phrase/Secret Backup Phrase.
Create a new strong password (min 8 chars).
Click “Restore”.
