Backup and restore MetaMask

By using the Secret Recovery Phrase

Suppose you have changed browser or laptop. Here is how to re-connect your MetaMask again. First, you have to find your Secret Backup Phrase, which you should have stored, to begin with.

• Click on the extension icon "" in the upper right corner to open MetaMask.

• Click on the account icon.

• Click Settings.

• Find “Security & Privacy” and click it.

• Click “Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase”, which you find the same as your “Secret Backup Phrase”.

• Enter your password.

Now save the Secret Recovery Phrase/Secret Backup Phrase somewhere, preferably not digitally. The backup is done now all you have to do is to learn the restoring process.

• Open MetaMask and click on the account icon.

• Click “Import Account” using the Secret Recovery Phrase/Secret Backup Phrase.

• Create a new strong password (min 8 chars).

• Click “Restore”.
